Welcome,
I’m Felisha.
Life can be a lot, and many of us struggle along the way. This is where therapy can help. Let’s explore ways to get you moving forward again.
About Me
-
I am a military brat, which means I've had the privilege of living stateside and abroad. These were formative experiences that showed me the value in the diversity of humanity. What I consider to be home now is wherever the people I love currently reside. However, I do claim to be a native Austinite, as I have been here for over 30 years.
I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin with the intent to be an elementary school teacher. As I progressed through that degree plan, I realized that I wanted to work with people in a different capacity. It was many years before I could undertake the training to realize that dream. In the interim, I worked in early childhood intervention (ECI), as a disability specialist, and I provided case management services through various agencies. After nearly two decades, I was able to return to school and earned my master’s degree.
Upon completing graduate school, I accepted a fellowship whose purpose was to provide mental health services in underserved and rural communities around the state. I lived and worked in Deep East Texas for two years. That was an especially gratifying experience, and it confirmed my commitment to expanding access to mental health services.
I am now back in Austin and look forward to facilitating healing closer to home. I draw on both life and work experiences to inform how I offer therapy. My priority is to provide culturally-sensitive and trauma-informed services. I am intentional about acknowledging and respecting the humanity in others, regardless of our differences.

My Approach
Theoretical
I work primarily from a CBT-informed approach. Depending on what we decide to tackle together, I might use traditional CBT, but I often take an eclectic approach to intervention. As appropriate, I incorporate other concepts such as mindfulness, spirituality, and personal values. I find this to be more holistic as it allows me to focus on the flourishing of the person and not simply the problem to be solved.
Experiential
Being a therapist is more than a job for me, it's a calling. I LOVE people, and it is a great honor to be a partner in healing. My therapeutic approach is relaxed and relational. I believe we can approach hard things gently and with humor. I want you to feel safe enough in this space to trust the collaborative process.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
The CBT approach says that thoughts, behaviors, and emotions are interconnected in a dynamic relationship. The way you think about something, affects how you feel about it. Those emotions, subsequently, influence your behavior. A change in any one component affects the others. In CBT, the work is to explore and ultimately change unhealthy patterns of thought and behavior.
Therapy Might Look Like…
Mindfulness
Mindfulness is the practice of learning to be in the present moment without judgement.
Spirituality
In very general terms, spirituality is a sense of connection to something bigger than the self. It often shapes how we make meaning.
Personal Values
Exploring personal values can help clarify what is important to you. That allows us to evaluate whether your actions and values are aligned.
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)
CPT is a CBT-based intervention that was developed specifically to treat those with a diagnosis of PTSD to help reduce symptoms. It is structured intervention that combines gradual exposure with the foundational components of CBT. CPT aims to change a pervasive negative view of the self, others, and the world.
These are the primary modalities and interventions I use. However, the therapeutic experience and plan of care is as individualized as each unique person who sits across from me.
